“To be really happy and really safe, one ought to have at least two or three hobbies, and they must all be real.” – Winston Churchill
Travelling
Well, why learn languages and work in multiple countries if you don’t like to travel?
I would travel the whole world if I could. There is still a lot to see everywhere
Reading
An acquired taste from early years. When a child I read my father’s books. Most were about Sociology, Politics, Anthropology, and similar but he also had Shakespeare and many of the classics.
Now I am more focused on either technical understanding of what I need to learn or just for light reading that might let me wonder for a while .
Technology
Yes, I ended up working in an area that filled me with wonder in my early years. I have had computers since the age of the ZX Spectrum and never looked back. My home network was run as a small company would like to have it… at one point even a hybrid Azure environment. I run wireframes for visibility of traffic on my network. I have built my own computers from scratch and even added water-cooling when it first appeared. IoT is interesting to me to improve our lives and to discover how I can maximize the resources I have placed at home. Still curious and still learning every day, after having worked with some at Imperial College I thought there was a lot of untapped potential.
Audio
A new thing in the grand scheme of things… I always liked to listen to music and never really an audiophile but my love of learning and a perfectionist strike lead me to look at some of the products and what we could do.
Currently running at home Naim QB2 powered speakers but thinking about moving to a more traditional setup possibly… or even complementing what it is in already (most likely)
